RJ -- Even if someone knew where I lived I would have nothing to hide, my livelihood does not depend on animal cruelty- happy the way I live- I love the animals I have and would never harm them.

I am glad there are animal activists. ,Some of the cruelty inflicted on animals in intensive farming and live export is disgraceful. By all means show people the truth about farming .If farmers have nothing to hide- why worry .
11/11/13 06:26 AM
I don't mind being narrow-minded and sinister, at least I can hold my head up and be happy that I'm not contributing to all the cruelty of the live export trade. My life style does not depend on animal cruelty.
28/09/11 07:13 AM
You have no credibility, did you not see enough abject cruelty in those barbaric slaughter houses of Indonesia? Yet you are still willing to support an industry that is responsible for the most shameful animal abuse one could ever see.
Actually I find it hard to believe that any decent farmer would condone this cruel treatment of animals.
No more excuses please.

Getting a bit sick of being told of the daily dramas of life on the farm -- saving all types of live stock from pain and suffering --this always sounds a bit hypocritical-- when it comes from those who so proudly support the trade of Australian live stock.
These animals are exported in to some of most uncaring places in the world.
Live export will never be humane and if farmers care for animals they should not sell them into cruelty.

Agribuzz with David Leyonhjelm

I was under the impression that Australia's presence in importing countries meant improvement in animal welfare. Has it really? Nothing seems to change, the cruelty goes on, same barbaric treatment of animals during cruel religious festivals and savage slaughter methods. Those who profit from live export do so at the expense of the unfortunate exported animals.

Get Muddy

Have any of you live exporters, farmers or graziers ever opposed the sadistic cruelty inflicted on live animals in these importing countries? None of you appear to show disgust at the brutal handling and slaughter methods used by these people. Seems low animal welfare standards is of no concern when money is more important. Ban live export send them chilled meat or nothing and show a bit of compassion for these animals.
02/01/14 05:54 AM
Cruel heartless people. Seems that those who export these unfortunate animals are just as uncaring as those who import them. Live ex is needless animal cruelty.

Good on you Sam great article.
Time some of these complaining farmers took notice of what you have to say.

Live export is barbaric animal cruelty . Those who support this trade should know by now they are also supporting the suffering and callous deaths of thousands of exported live animals .Export of pregnant animals is a disgrace - shows just how brutal and uncaring many Live Ex farmers really are. Our Government must ban the live trade - it shames our nation.
15/04/18 05:27 AM
Maybe sheep farmers are a tad bit embarrassed at the footage of the serious animal cruelty in shearing sheds and this the only way they can somehow hide the barbaric treatment of their sheep. PETA was correct in exposing all this cruelty and it's time the sheep and wool industry showed more interest in the welfare of these much abused sheep.
14/05/15 03:38 AM
Live export = barbaric animal cruelty and those who support this trade have nothing to brag about. No compassionate government would lower animal welfare standards as Australia has -- simply to suit the brutal handling and slaughter methods that are common place in many of these importing countries. Cruelty is nothing to be proud of and I congratulate the Greens for their compassion.
02/04/14 11:51 PM
Well said -Bushie Bill - Totally agree with your comment.
06/01/14 04:12 AM
Jen -- Do you really know what you are talking about? We have had laying hens for years ,never had chooks trying to kill each other. They are locked up safely at night and let out each morning to fossick around all day. I think it's a disgrace to keep hens in small cages all their lives.

Our family and friends can't wait to buy as many Coles bags as possible -- knowing Animals Australia will benefit from our purchases.
Thanks Coles and AA for your interest in animal welfare.
01/06/13 03:37 AM
Thank you Coles --a great idea.
There is far too much cruelty in farming and someone needs to stop all this cruelty. Animals Australia will help make it possible.
30/05/13 09:12 AM
A cruel, greedy and ugly trade that should not exist. Ban live export - it's a disgrace to Australia.
24/04/13 09:20 AM
Good on you Coles - Thanks for taking notice of what your caring customers say.
23/10/12 10:34 PM
The sheep are only in Pakistan because of the greed of live exporters and if were up to us there would be no such trade as live export. Unlike some people - we are committed to preventing animal cruelty and that means no live animals for export. This trade does nothing for the welfare of any animal.

General

Australia's live animal trade is nothing but a blood stained industry that suits those who breed and supply the unfortunate live animals for this brutal trade. Live export supporters have nothing to be proud of and the cruelty inflicted on exported sheep or other animals should be illegal. Our animal welfare laws are weak and unable to protect animals against the cruelty and greed of uncaring people. Smarten up Australia and become responsible for the welfare of our animals.
03/09/18 01:05 AM
Well said-- Suzanne I could not have worded it better. They don't care what happens to these poor suffering abused animals it's the money they want. Cruel, greedy and heartless.
24/06/16 07:33 AM
You don't get it do you-- Archibald? Live export is a cruel disgraceful industry that has no place in our society-- nothing to be proud of and most people are sick and tired of hearing all these excuses as to why this inhumane trade should continue. Animal Welfare Groups worldwide oppose Australia's export of live animals --shame on our uncaring Government.
02/02/16 11:54 PM
Quite laughable actually-- the fact that thousands of people from all walks of life are shying away from the meat industry and that must bother MLA. They are wasting thousands of dollars trying to increase lamb sales. I am not offended by these ridiculous ads Seems they have more money than sense.
14/01/16 03:31 AM
Dear Senator -- Not a good idea to try showing support for animal cruelty in this day and age. Abuse of animals belongs in the past and there it should stay. Arrogant and petty asking the Queen to remove Royal from RSPCA -- Quite laughable actually.
06/06/15 01:45 AM
This is uncivilised, callous and ignorant animal abuse. A good reason to ban live export and to keep Australia's animals away from countries that have no laws to protect animals from the ongoing cruelty that never ends. The live trade supports animal cruelty and is nothing to be proud of.
13/07/16 07:27 AM
Good to see some of these people named and shamed for inflicting disgusting cruelty on greyhounds and the innocent creatures used as live bait. This shocking industry should be banned-- Certainly a disgrace to our society.
13/07/16 12:46 AM
Live export is a cruel and obnoxious trade -- sadly supported by those who have no interest in the welfare of any animal. I agree-- this callous, unpopular trade has no place in our society.
05/01/16 11:20 PM
Sadly - Invey - You don't know enough to believe that all animals should be protected from cruelty including those who are exported live. Time to wake up to the fact that this cruelty is real.
11/07/15 12:55 AM
Typical comment -Invey - from a grazier who seems to think they know it all. As far as I am concerned the Greens have made a difference to the parliament and don't forget they have good support from people in all walks of life.

Livestock

So very obvious that not all Vets are animal- friendly. Seems there are those who support and defend the cruel and greedy live export trade. Shame on them all for not protecting these badly treated animals.
16/07/18 10:32 PM
Seems that many farmers will try to defend the live export of their animals - despite the exposure of horrendous cruelty within this unethical industry. I find it hard to believe that anyone could ignore all this cruelty inflicted on the animals they have bred. Abuse of exported animals has been ongoing for decades and for the sake of these badly treated sheep and other exported animals - I want to see this cruel and greedy trade banned forever. Live export is a disgrace to our country.
17/06/18 10:24 PM
What a callous Government we have that allows sheep and other exported animals to suffer the cruelty of live export and then face the barbaric conditions of importing countries.
Live export is a shameful industry supported by uncaring greedy people.
This unethical trade has no place in a country such as ours.
I thank Lyn White Animals Australia and all caring people who have the compassion and kindness to oppose this cruel and ugly trade.
Brutal treatment of animals should never be tolerated. It is surely time to ban the live export trade for all animals.
18/05/18 12:55 AM
Updating live ex ships will do little to spare exported animals from the terrible cruelty of many importing countries. Once these travel weary sheep have reached their destination -many of them will be subjected to callous handling and brutal savage slaughter. Seems live ex supporters choose to ignore all this animal abuse . It is a sin that Australia treats their sheep so badly. Ban the live trade - The majority of people are sick of all this cruelty.
08/05/18 12:41 AM
So- it's business as usual for the live ex trade and exporters can't wait to get their animals on board dirty '' Ships of Shame''
Despite the horrific footage exposed of cruelty toward the live exported sheep.
Ongoing needless animal abuse.
If farmers cared for the welfare of their livestock they would refuse to support the trade.
Come on-farmers please spare your animals from suffering in the brutal conditions of this cruel and ugly trade.
30/04/18 12:36 AM
Good to know that thousands of caring people in all walks of life oppose the cruel live animal trade and these people will continue to help bring the callous industry to an end. Our Government and live ex supporters appear to be lacking in compassion or concern for the welfare of these poor doomed animals. Live ex is nothing to be proud of -- ban the trade and stop the brutal cruelty inflicted on Australia's exported live animals.

Live export is barbaric animal cruelty- those who support this filthy trade should know they are responsible for the suffering and callous deaths of these live exported animals. Pregnant animals giving birth in export ships is disgusting. Our Government must ban live trade - it shames our Country.

Thousands of live sheep headed for the cruelty of overseas areas. Shame on our cruel and greedy Government and live ex groups for supporting this barbaric, filthy trade in live animals.

Rural Lifestyle

This not good clean fun, just another way for a bunch of people with nothing better to do than to torment animals. Animal cruelty obviously entertains certain types.
