The problem with people like this author is that they live in a wonderful little theoretical world and blissfully and ignorantly assume that the real world is the same.
Burrs under my saddle
DR8, you are a simpleton. If you the $ is 100c, and you spend $100 to grow a crop and you gross $200, you profit $100. If the dollar goes to 90c then you spend $111 and gross $222 to profit $111. If the dollar goes to 110c then you spend $91 and gross $182 dollars and only profit $91. A low dollar equals bigger $A returns to farmers even with supposedly higher input costs. Growing wheat has historically nearly always been more profitable than it is today.
Well what do you know, an academic who gets it!
I wonder what will happen now. Nothing, but it is nice to know someone understands what is happening to me and that it is not just me.
WE ARE MEASURING THE WRONG THINGS!
What a revelation!
