The problem is we have too many politicians and we don't pay them enough, pay peanuts get monkeys, the top people in business receive millions, and have to earn it, more pay would see the best in the political business, instead of the rubbish we have in all parties at the moment

The top down agricultural system will resist change unless it suites the top, take NLIS and a 5$ levy as an example, our trading competitors pay much less ,
I was involved in taking a grading system to beef CRC some years ago that had the potential to determine tenderness on the live animal , we could prove that it was accurate but they were not interested, too many vested interests at the top, I'm sure there are young people willing to take up the challenge if the economics were there, at the moment they are not.

Freebairn is typical of the dry yuppie economists of today he is happy on a large salary and taxpayer subsidised superannuation while knowing absolutely nothing of the reality that is the lot of somebody in todays agriculture, we wouldn't need assistance if the middle men were unable to gouge on the prices we get, this works in the US and it could work here if only we had some leaders with balls.

Wild dogs are a big problem in this area of NE Vic we can no longer run sheep and usually lose calves off heifers most years, there are a number of problems to solve, the crossbred dogs about today will breed twice a year as opposed to the purebred dingo only once, result twice as many pups, adult dogs are very cunning and hard to poison, baiting works best on hungry pups and young dogs, trapping is by far the best way to lower numbers, and leaving traps down and not going near them regularly results in much better catches, here in Vic the trappers are basically working with their hands tied.
