What with drought and floods, in some cases leading to the suicide of some primary producers, the imposts on our incomes (if any) keep on growing. In Qld there is a proposal from Qld Bio Security to force famers and graziers to pay a licence fee for the privilege of being on the land to the tune, I believe, of $360.00 for three years, among other proposed fees. This could be the straw that breaks the camels' back for some on the land.

My cousin lived on a dairy farm 50 years ago and acquired a tubercular infection of the lymph nodes from drinking raw milk in the dairy. From memory, tuberculosis was one reason why herd testing was instituted and milk pasteurized. My then 10 year old cousin did recover, but spent nearly 3 months in Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital.
