David's comments are those of a blinkered rationalist - if he is expecting us to follow his ideas then he should be rational in explaining how the community demand on the way we farm is compensated. No longer can we farm within the framework of rational economics and we as farmers need to be compensated for community demands placed on our activities.
We do not have effective 'right to farm' legislation, we do not have the numbers to democratically out vote the city and yet we are expected to do what the majority wants.
If rational economics is David's mantra rationalise an alternative.
