Agribuzz with David Leyonhjelm

Farmers tend to produce products which can be sold and make some sort of money for Australia.
Whereas Australian polititians will go down in history of wasting untold multi billions given to people so that they no longer take any responsibility for their actions.
Not used for any production but completely wasted.
If you don't know what I am referring to David, I am referring to the dole and single parents etc.
Food tokens yes but why should tax payers money be spent buying tvs grog cigarettes etc. If that money was spent on developing Au instead o
Temple Grandin of USA advocates a website where anyone can visit and learn and observe exactly how different meat foods are produced. Production methods are clearly shown. Viewers are shown why different methods are carried out, the costs involved and the different outcomes of these actions. ie no. of piglets produced, fly strike in sheep etc.
I believe this would lead to a lot less hysteria, farm animal welfare violations etc and would educate and help people think for themselves. They then can vote with their wallets and buy exactly what they want.

Agribusiness

Don't care if they do have handouts or call it handouts, BB.
They deserve helping.
After all how many millions are handed out to non-working bludgers in this country. People who now think it is a right not a privilege and think it is their right to be fully kept and have little interest in taking any responsibility of their actions.
Farms are and usually are in trouble because of reasons outside their control.
When guys pay for the keep of their children and dole is restricted to food tokens, I might change my mind re farms - fair's fair!
Since the Brisbane storm was called a disaster, they are subsidizing it to the tune of 50%.
Just how many hundreds of millions is that going to be??
If towns can get a handout, why can't farmers?
Just how does AA etc expect Au farmers to be paid a fairer amount of return if more Au abattoirs are built?
Helloooo, it hasn't happened since day dot.
Farmers went to LE to get a fairer return - abattoirs make $500-800 profit/hd whereas farmers are going broke.
Too late to shut the stable doors guys. LE is now here to stay. Long live LE as it puts a base in our meat industry. This Chinese deal should make the abattoirs a bit more honest as it competes with abattoirs.
LE isn't going to be 10% for much longer. Soon it will be 50% and then 75%.
The fact is, it isn't going to go away unless Au abattoirs pay more.
They won't. These foreign owned abattoirs have been too busy ripping off Au cattle producers and making $5-800 profit per animal.
Since kill costs/hd in Au is over $350 and $35 in Asia, just like every other manufacturing business, we have to go overseas and you will either be paying dearly for locals butchers to kill cattle or buying Woolies/Coles meat back from Asia just like we buy back peas, fish, steel etc
It is only a matter of time.

General

Good enough for Brisbane to get a whopping big handout for a storm, it is good enough for farmers to also be given one.
Brisbane's handout just joins all the other subsidies paid to urban communities - bitumen roads, bridges, dams, pools, schools, hospital and medical aid, police, unis, sports centers, power, transport, libraries, set wages and benefits, dole, supporting mothers pensions etc etc etc.
Yep a little coming back is long overdue especially after Ludwig's bash at killing the beef industry.
100%right on - now please do something about it.
Never want to see again the overstocking, environmental and financial disaster created by LE ban by Ludwig etc.
Helloo, where were the cattle to go?
The mind boggles on the stupidity of people - And we were lucky our trading partners eventually started re-trading with us instead of paying us back with something like rabies or foot and mouth which actually shows that they are more mature than Au was then.
