Burrs under my saddle
Excellent article and a measured response to what lies ahead. If more of our farmers are of Pete Mailler's quality, then we are in good hands. I feel for the ones who can't, or won't, see what is before them, however. It won't be a rude awakening, but a tragic one.
I'm surprised at the wishful thinking by the most of the commenters here. Don't they read? Aren't they aware of the collapse in clean water, biodiversity and habitats that is happening all around the world? The increase in weather extremes? And particularly here in Australia. Do they think they are immune from limits?. I'm sure they all know what happens when there are too many cows in a paddock...
Congratulations to the Register for putting its audience first - climate change is here and you are all affected by it, and will be affected by it more and worse and faster than some of the commenters can get their heads around. Instead of ranting, do your research with an open mind. Your families, communities and business will thank you and you may be fortunate enough to adapt. You sure as hell won't if you put your head in the sand - it won't change anything except your livelihood and your security.
