Agribusiness

Jock, the article states that the cost of production and yields are the major factors in the Black Sea advantage over Australia. What difference would the single desk make to these factors?

Look at the detail with Westchester owning the farmland and farmers being able to take long term leases. A win win model with farmers expanding with expertise in operating without the need for capital to own land. Good to see new models.

Don't work for GRDC but lets see proper cost benefit of relocation rather than some short term electoral promise.

Look at what function GRDC does in Canberra and the ease to interact with other agencies and keep good staff. Most of the expenditure is spread across Australia already. Shifting to another centre will just increase cost for farmers, reduce the interaction with other policy makers - How often will others visit to interact using commercial flights to a small centre. Concentrate on the bigger issues and leave the small admin hub which is accessible by all. If the same logic is applied where is Duntroon moving to?

Jock, The AGIC conference provides a good forum for a range of ideas and interaction. "Remember the mind is like a parachute - it doesn't function until it is open." and before you accuse I am a full paying delegate with no merchant connections.
