100,000 farmers have a voice but with the support of 1,000,000 agribusiness plus Ag supported they really have the voice they need in 2014. Only solution.
A matter of opinion
The production of the primary sector has cycled over the century because of the rainfall. Increasing the water available to plants is the greatest issue, with drought the extreme expression of the impact on farmers, suppliers, retailers and exporters. It will be the greatest limiting factor on world performance over the next decade, as witnessed by California, the 9th biggest "economy", currently falling apart with huge impacts for agriculture.
A Social Licence is required, not just by farmers, to operate with communities to supply and satisfy their needs. Everyone feels undervalued not just farmers, because society does not adequately recognise their contribution to the community.
But perhaps farmers have a right to feel especially unappreciated because they produce food but the current currency is money, not value or empathy, certainly not sympathy, unless there is a drought or flood.
But what would Elizabeth have done? Or better her daughter having established the Dairy Industry which operates in the same way today
NZ Lamb genuine lamb. Once you try it all other lamb second rate.
Big pie. How can farmers get bigger proportion?
And who will continue these program's?
I would be happy to discuss it with someone
"Finally, the text will not be kept secret. Once it is agreed between participants it will be made public and also subjected to parliamentary scrutiny and inquiries prior to any final ratification." Great to hear that.
Disappointing article. The four suggestions are disappointing. To generalise all scientists as "scientists" is as simplistic as as having the solution to the objections of all objections. The fact is that people are not the rational beings economists portray them as. The problem is the science of human behaviour is so primitive that the one quote example expands all. Once the science of behaviour is understood the communication of science will be enhanced. No mention was made of educating primary and secondary school children!
