Agribuzz with David Leyonhjelm
It's amazing that people like David are so proud of their ignorance. And does that mean David that you think 50 % of Australians who seek higher welfare standards for production animals are idiots. These people not only buy eggs, they also vote. Let's hope they remember your lack of respect for peoples ideals at the polls.
Why on earth has Mr Joyce put one of his henchmen in the middle of a legal office. I thought ACCC was about the law but perhaps they have been a little too effective at weeding out the free range cheats and Barnaby is going to plug that hole with Keogh to ensure his industrial producers don't get brought to justice.
Is this the Government reaction to the law again. They really don't like it and when it gets in their way - they just change it.
ACCC has been doing a great job of weeding out bogus claims on eggs so I guess we can assume they have been a little bit too effective and the big agri boys have had a whinge to Barnaby so Tony and him are going to fix it. Lets put up 2 guys that are totally unsuited to the job, that have no legal background and have both been mouthpieces for huge agri business. Where is that going to leave the small truthful producers.
This country is in real trouble.
So glad this is in a court of law and not left in the hands of crazy National back benchers. I think Wacka has missed the point. Swan Valley eggs were not farming to 1500 but much closer to 20,000 and the birds could not get out. ACCC would not or could not pursue this through the courts without evidence to back it up. That is why we have courts Wacka. They have their job and you have yours.
It is entirely inappropriate that RSPCA have the power of prosecution on farm issues when they are now one of the largest meat sellers in Australia. Many of the farms now would be producing RSPCA product for supermarkets and there needs to be independent oversight. RSPCA would of course not bring charges against one of their own producers. The Government needs to come up with a better solution.
