Agribuzz with David Leyonhjelm

Unusual for a union leader to advocate for productivity growth... Surely david you can see how the exit of a thousand ma and pa's and the entry of a large corporate with a couple of hundred wage earners would benefit howes and his union movement.
Oh, and last time I looked diversified corporate farmers are all haemorrhaging cash. And that's the way of the future...
'An understanding of basic economics of farming'... If you say so... in any case, this in no way qualifies howes to tackle the issue of declining terms of trade. High school economics go out the window in imperfect markets.

Out of the shadow

Hey Joel, heads up, selling our land to foreigners doesn't necessarily introduce new capital to agriculture. Money comes in, money goes out, asset values rise, return on capital falls. Furthermore, scrutiny is required to ensure investment is for the right reasons. Foreign investment does not always equal productivity gains. If you want the job, prove you understand that successive governments have failed to facilitate an environment in which a farmer can prosper, think red/green tape, infrastructure, market interference... I could go on.
