I don't feel you have captured the problem. The problem is Australians who have the wealth and opportunity to invest in agriculture don't. Unfortunately, foreign investors value agriculture more at the moment and are willing to invest a lot of money as a result.
Furthermore, your Australian parents are benefiting from the foreign investors. They wouldn't earn as much if they relied on Australians to buy. When foreigners invest, we also benefit. Many companies would by shut down and Australian jobs lost permanently if it wasn't for foreign investors re-opening unsuccessful Aus. businesses.
