Proud to say that a very close friend of mine was at the forefront of deregulating the dairy industry . Also all sides of politics were on board. The fact was that NSW and QLD dairy farmers were subsidizing the manufacturing sector mainly in Victoria from a highly profitable fresh milk market bought about the demise of a Pandora's box of regulation and subsidy. Now we see the QLD sugar industry afraid to face the reality that it needs weaning from the breast of regulation. At times painfull but in the end adults walk into the room
Stand aside... Jock is going to put his money where his mouth tends to go. Jock head north and take your bed with you so your commies can hide under it. By the way, form cartels so no one can undersell you. You could even breed neanderthals.
Bushie Bill is dead right . The real average consumer could not care if the food came from a Gulag. That is why low cost milk and bread is manna to many struggling families. Food labeling is pure rubbish when it is the dollars and cents that drive the consumer market .As for organic food that is from another planet. Some farmers need to know if they cannot stand the heat in the kitchen they should move on. One case of bad berries has turned on the lights . Big deal. Bad food is bad food and Australian produce is not exempt.
Obviously Jock has given up eating Chinese takeaway. Who owns the vineyards and where the funds come from matters two hoots. However in this case an 80 year old investor if he decided to sell could collapse the industry and decimate the equity of other vineyards. Other industries that could be affected in a similar way are pork and poultry but the cost of servicing land costs are not as high as the wine industry. A difficult situation The last thing anyone would want is the sticky fingers of government but here is an example of the need for an ownership register, both Australian and offshore
Could Jock Munro tell us what a communist is. In Australia it could be someone wanting to pool all the grain and sell it from a single desk so all producers gain the same price . It must be busy under Jocks bed with all the commos there stopping Jock from investing in the land he loves. Thank God they want to buy our land. How they will make money when all others have failed will be very interesting
When you ask a bank for farm finance where does it come from . Does it come from overseas, does it come from, God forbid a communist country. does it come from organised crime or does it by some miracle come from Australian savings . Who knows and who cares particularly if you are wanting funds . Investors from overseas could use trusts and other legal means to hide their identity. The fact is they are proud to invest in Australia and we should be proud that they do. After all they are not fighting off Australians wanting to invest. Even our super funds love investing off shore
If the Russian government does not want our produce they would find a way to declare that it does not meet a standard. They have done it before. Don't jump to conclusions that produce destined for the Russian market cannot be sold elsewhere. You could bet that if it was the Kiwis they would have sold it already . This is just another challenge for our marketers . Lets see what they are made of
This whole exercise was a try on
If CCA needs a paltry $50 million to top up a $160 million upgrade to stay in operation give me breathe . If the future of the Goulburn Valley fruit industry relies on a gift long term viability could be questionable
Bushie, oh how wrong you are. Yes they are intelligent but have integrity and morality .. give it a break. If their cause is worth fighting for they can fund it. And Bushie, it is not the coalition that are rednecked, whatever that means, it is those honest hard working ethical farmers who are constantly being attacked. The idiot farmers who defend bad practices do not read columns like this and their days are numbered
In your analysis you forgot Indi where the Nationals ran after many years They achieved 18 per cent of the vote after touting widely they could win. Of course the Indi vote boosted the overall figure. Any sane person should be happy Narnaby won his seat
Mirabella told the truth. Obviouslty the Wangarrata hospital board knew but chose not the pursue the matter with the new member McGowan. A lack of confidence that has taken three years to surface. Windsor should toughen up and stop playing the blame game . Who would want a sook for a member
Which is why we should work our guts out to make sure the ALP never sniffs government
Let us hope disaster is averted and the Windsor and Oakeshot loose out badly.
In Victoria it is not helpful that former Nationals member, Jasper is backing an independent over the Liberal candidate Mirabella. He should be expelled from, the party
The damage caused by inaudible noise from wind turbines will be the asbestos problem of the future Just wait.
Archibald and Adrian are drop kicks
So a grass fed cattle levy is a defining moment for Australian politics and Donald Trump is an embarrassment. Should he be elected president it will be the wish of the people and will show how sick they are of political correctness. Has Barnaby been politically correct about mining in his electorate ?. Me thinks not.
:"He threatened to kill Depps dogs"
Not true . He said if the Depps did not comply to Australian law they risked having their dogs destroyed. And there would hardly be one farmer who would disagree> Joyce got it right and animal huggers got it wrong
This bloke is a tosser. Meat processing in Australia has always been a precarious industry that is subject to a host of variables. Surely cattle processed offshore saves energy in Australia. As for extra jobs, it just might be that the current workforce could absorb any increase in activity. The storage of meat in chillers and freezers also uses large amounts of energy. Why don't the Greens came clean and say their agenda is vegetarian, which means they are opposed to the farming of animals?
Joyce should consider resigning so say two ALP members who very own state minister approved the mine when their Federal Gov was also in power . Just wait, this fight is not lost and Windsor, who sold his farm for mining, is helping Joyce no end by mouthing a return . At least the region is represented by a member who has the ear of the PM
Of course climate change is real. The world's climate has changed every year since the formation of planet earth. The debate is whether we can change the climate or not. I am sure science will keep pace with any eventuality and farmers will be among the first to take up technology to grow food and fibre. In the last decade farming systems have changed dramatically enabling increased production. Production could rapidly escalate with better financial returns
Animal spaying? And people having tattoos one would think or maybe even having their hair cut.Yes the Brazilian
certainly needs general wiff
To Cam, may I come into your home to check on your personal life. Also may i place some cameras in your home and have a drone watching your backyard. You would be aware Cam that what is good for the goose.........
Why is it obscene.. No doubt the property will provide employment for many as Mr and Mrs Smith are hardy likely to pick grapes
This what we want Australians investing in Australia and more importantly this is what we need for rural Australia.
Cubbie Station is a prime example. We cannot bleat over foreign investment if Australians do not take up the cudgel. Good on the Smiths and those who sail on their ship
