Due to heavy rain in the Gulf of Carpentaria, popular tourist destination Adels Grove has seen their highest water level in four years.
After consistently missing out on a wet season, Adels Grove owner Michelle Low Mow is happy to see the end of their drought.
“In December we only received about 80-millimetres for the whole month, and so far in January we have received over 100mm,” Ms Low Mow said.
“Even though we have not had as much rain as others, water still rises if there has been sufficient rain up stream.
“The water for Adels Grove starts at ‘Herbert Vale Station’ 50-kilometres from the Northern Territory border., so when they have a good season the water level rises.
“This is the highest I have seen it.”
Despite the water streaming through the park it remains crystal clear.
“Usually the run off from the bank makes the water turn black and muddy but because the creek has been consistently flowing it has not had the chance to get dirty,” she said.
The water has started to subside but could easily rise again with more rain.
