THE records just keep on tumbling at the Katanning saleyards.
At today's (Wednesday) sale a line of 54 orange tag Prime SAMM ram lambs took the market to new heights, reaching $289 a head.
The October shorn lambs were offered by the Cronin family, Bunkin Farms, Dumbleyung and sold under the Landmark banner and now hold the new State record saleyard price for lambs in WA.
The previous record of $260 a head lasted exactly one week, when it was set at the Katanning sale last Wednesday, paid for a line of 38 July drop White Suffolk-Merino cross lambs offered by the Corker family, Boyup Brook.
Last week's Katanning sale also saw a new State record for mutton set when the West family, Dumbleyung, offered a line of 30 yellow tag ewes that made $243.
Overall prices this week at Katanning were up on the firm result at Muchea on Tuesday.
