A YOUNG medium wool ram from Orrie Cowie stud, Warooka, which won two major show ring accolades this season has sold for $40,000 in a private sale to Glenlea Park stud, Keith.
11 studs offered a combined yarding of 297 Merino, Poll Merino, Dohne, White Suffolk & Suffolk rams.
On offer were 91 head including rams and ewes of which there was an 84 per cent clearance rate and overall sale average of $5064 and a top price of $42,000.
Glenlea Park stud, Keith and Pinnaroo, was again the pace setter at the 2021 Adelaide Merino ram sale topping the sale with its lot 1 ram.
Australian Whites hit a top of $4400 to deliver a stunning $2255 average at the Keilah and Springdale sale at Stanthorpe.
Following the stud's 70th birthday last year, celebrations continued into its 71st year with one of the country's strongest ram sales likely to be seen this spring selling season.
With a long list of return buyers and a couple of new ones in the lanes, competition on the line-up was strong from beginning to end as buyers chased the proven Manunda genetics to a high of $7500 three times.
"Really good structure and figures and with its wool will be a good fit for our higher rainfall clients."
