THE Australian Liberal Party has selected Melissa Price as the party's candidate to replace retiring MP Barry Haase in the seat of Durack at the next Federal election.
Ms Price becomes the final Liberal candidate to be selected in WA's three major regional Federal seats.
Ms Price also ran for the seat of Kalgoorlie at the March State election losing to The Nationals member Wendy Duncan,
Other Liberal candidates include Katanning farmer Rick Wilson, who will again contest the seat of O'Connor left vacant by retiring MP Tony Crook and former State treasurer Christian Porter, who will contest the seat of Pearce, also left vacant by retiring MP Judy Moylan.
Ms Price is a lawyer and has more than 20 years experience in the private sector, working in the mining and grains industry in a variety of commercial and legal roles.
The upcoming election shapes as a tight contest particularly in the seats of O'Connor and Durack.
Nationals WA candidate Shane Van Styn would fancy his chances of an upset as he attempts to lift the party's numbers in Federal Parliament from one to two.
Mr Van Styn was also the The Nationals candidate for Geraldton in the March State election losing to Liberal candidate Ian Blayney.
That Durack seat is also likely to get a lot of publicity with the announcement of former Fremantle Dockers and Brisbane Lions premiership player Des Headland running as a candidate for the Clive Palmer United Party.
Daron Keogh is the candidate for Labor in the seat of Durack, but at the time of going to press, the party had yet to select a candidate for the seat of O'Connor.
The seat of O'Connor, which was held for 30 years by the outspoken Wilson Tuckey -- before Mr Crook won the seat on the back of The Nationals' Royalties for Regions campaign -- could be an open race between Rick Wilson and William 'Chub' Witham.
The owner of the Ora Banda Hotel Historical Inn, Michael Lucas, will contest the seat for the Clive Palmer United Party and former One Nation MP Frank Hough will represent the party in the seat of Pearce.
