TWO Swiss visitors were part of the big crowd at last week's Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days as guests of shearing equipment company Heiniger Australia.
Martin Schmid and head of marketing and sales Adrian Schar, from Heiniger AG head office in Herzogenbuchsee, Switzerland, called in on WA's biggest agriculture machinery field days as part of a nine-day tour of Australia.
They have come to attend the Heiniger national sales conference at the Australian division's Bibra Lake head office this week and to see their products and equipment operating in local conditions.
Heiniger Australia managing director Gary Lyons said the company's sales campaigns, promotions and new product launches for the next 12 months were discussed and planned at the annual conference.
"We always try to bring a couple of the Swiss guys out for the conference," he said.
Nungarin shearer and Heiniger ambassador Todd Wegner said he would take Mr Schmid and Mr Schar to visit some local shearing sheds.
Also at Dowerin was former shearer Dale Murphy, just been appointed Heiniger regional manager for South Australia, and Heiniger Australia chief financial officer Rhys Davies.
They and Mr Lyons joined Mr Wegner and master shearer and Kevin Gellatly at the Heiniger stand on the Wednesday.
Throughout the two days at Dowerin Mr Wegner put on shearing demonstrations for the public while Mr Gellatly provided a colourful running commentary.
Heiniger this year continued its tradition of preparing a field days special wool press specially decorated with pictures acknowledging the field days.
