THERE was an air of excitement at the inaugural valedictory dinner for students studying the Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Muresk.
The dinner, held in Northam two weeks ago, was for students from the first intake who are about to complete the three-year degree that started in February 2014 at Muresk campus in a unique partnership between CY O’Connor Institute (now Central Regional TAFE) and Charles Sturt University.
Professor Christine Storer thanked the students for their patience, resilience, self-reliance and dedication in completing the course which they had pioneered.
“In the beginning we were all coming to terms with the course being offered in WA for the first time,” she said.
“Despite this you have embraced the course and made the most of opportunities.
“These have included networking with industry, arranging events along with involvement in live broadcasts, field work, trips and lab sessions.
“You have developed self confidence and a range of valuable skills to take with you into the workplace including effective communication, assertiveness, teamwork, leadership and the ability to negotiate.”
Many of the students completing their degree already have jobs in areas such as agronomy, rural banking, merchandising and field research.
