A 19-year-old NSW man will appear in a Longreach Court next month facing two charges relating to taking and keeping of protected wildlife.
The man who was initially stopped on a traffic matter in Windorah this week was found to have a number of lizards and a snake in the vehicle and also in the accommodation he was using.
Detective Sergeant Dave Perry of the Longreach SARCIS said the man had a total quantity of 38 animals including shinglebacks, gidgee skinks, painted dragons, netted dragons, geckos and a suta suta (curl snake).
The man was served with a Notice to Appear for the Longreach Magistrates Court on April 11.
