CUNDERDIN manufacturer Trufab Global is hoping 2018 will have an extra shine to it.
The company has announced it is Australia’s only finalist in the Swedish Steel Prize for 2018.
The award recognises innovative use of high-strength steel and the winner will be announced in Stockholm on May 24.
Trufab’s nomination is its new Nyrex Chaser bin which features a modular design using almost no welding.
The bins are manufactured from light and extremely durable Strenx steel, which is 25 per cent lighter than steel plate and is claimed to provide a longer life than conventional bins.
Its assembly process uses laser technology in a bolted construction.
Other finalists include a truck-mounted sky-lift from Italy, a cutter for clearing roadside vegetation from Finland and a new lightweight trailer from Italy.
Unless the judges are skiers, Mains Roads workers or ‘subbies’, Torque considers Trufab is in with a real chance of a gong.
