Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1808 head on Wednesday, consisting of 819 prime cattle and 898 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 116 bullocks, 14 heifers, 596 cows and 93 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 226 steers, 541 heifers, 219 mickeys and three cows and calves. Cattle comprised of large consignment of cows with a few bullocks and bulls. The yarding was drawn from Croydon, Richmond, Belyando, Collinsville, the Gulf, Coastal and Local areas.

Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 295.2c and averaged 279.7c, and those over 500kg topped at 300.2c to average 289.4c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 258.2c and averaged 219.2c. Cows under 400kg made 220c and averaged 189.4c, while cows over 400kg reached 232.2c, averaging 216.4c. Bulls under 450kg made 291.2c and averaged 258.7c, while bulls over 450kg reached 295.2c to average 281.5c.
Bullocks topped at 300.2c for six ox sold on a/c Revegetation that weighed 670kg to return $770/head. Best price trade heifers were presented on a/c S. Steadman that sold for 258.2c and weighed 420kg to return $1084. The top pen of cows were sold by RA & JM Pugh for 232.2c, weighing 546kg to return 1267/head. Bulls sold on a/c S. Steadman topped at 295.2c and weighed 730kg to return 2154/head.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 226.2c and averaged 213.3c, heifers 200 – 320kg sold to 244.2c, averaging 221.3c, while heifers 320 – 370kg made 225.2c to average 208.8c.
A pen of 32 steers a/c Pennas Mila, Ingham, made 272.2c and weighed 246kg, returning an average of $664/head. A good pen of 25 heifers on a/c Pennas Mila made 244.4c, weighed 284kg returning an average of $692/head. Cows and calves insufficient to quote.
