AS they have since 2000, members of Elders’ Stockies Group got together for a bit of yuletide joy at a Christmas lunch held last Friday at Swan Yacht Club, East Fremantle.
The brainchild of the late Neil Williamson, it was co-founded by Jon Boyne, Owen Davies and Malcolm Douglas, with the latter two stalwarts in attendance this year.
But with impending years taking a toll on membership, both conceded it may be the last supper for the group held together by great camaraderie and company loyalty.
Event organiser and group convenor for the past seven years, Mr Douglas said they had been meeting every six to eight weeks, either to play bowls or just for a meal and a chat.
“Initially we used to meet at the Hyde Park Hotel, then the Nookenburra Hotel, the Herdsman Hotel and since 2007 here at the Swan Yacht Club,” Mr Douglas said.
“In total 38 members joined the ranks but sadly there are a few no longer with us.”
