PRIMARY Sales has been appointed Australian distributors of a new grain loss monitor called Bushel Plus.
Invented by Bushel Plus company founder Marcel Kringe, it is an integrated system which provides grain loss information on-the-go.
It comprises a housing cover which magnetically attaches to the rear axle of a header. Underneath the cover is a drop pan which is attached by electro-magnets.
A remote release enables the operator to release the drop pan at any stage while the header is harvesting to collect residue and seed.
A portable variable speed separator is then used to collect the seed which is then weighed and the information entered into a special app on your phone.
That information is wirelessly transferred to the operator who can then re-calibrate header settings to reduce the grain losses.
According to Primary Sales general manager Peter Broley, the Bushel Plus also works with seed destructors and chaff carts and the separator also can be used as a tool to test grain moisture levels.
“And there are two different size drop pans to suit different crop conditions,” he said.
“I think the big appeal is having almost instant information to maintain header settings for optimum harvesting productivity, which means you’re making more money and not losing it.”
