NOMINATIONS were called for seven positions available on the CBH Growers Advisory Council (GAC) this year.
Made up of 16 councillors, the GAC provides a formal conduit to facilitate communication between the co-operative's 4000 grower members and the CBH board and management team.
Due to the expiry of the terms of sitting councillors, there are seven positions open for growers to join the GAC in 2019.
CBH chairman Wally Newman said the GAC offered growers an invaluable opportunity to contribute to the future of their co-operative, while enhancing their own personal and professional development.
"Joining the Growers' Advisory Council is a great way to make a positive contribution to CBH, along with the wider grains industry and our rural communities across WA," Mr Newman said.
"The GAC plays an integral role in communicating important information from a grassroots level to those leading CBH and by becoming a councillor you can really make a difference.
"It also sets a strong foundation for growers with further CBH leadership aspirations to broaden their knowledge of CBH operations and the appointments of former GAC members Natalie Browning, Trevor Badger, Brian McAlpine and Jeff Seaby, to the CBH board demonstrates its effectiveness."
Mukinbudin farmer Jeff Seaby is CBH's newest director, following his election to the board last month.
Mr Seaby said his involvement with the GAC gave valuable insight into CBH and a strong grounding to make a contribution.
"My experience on the Growers' Advisory Council allowed me to further develop my knowledge of our co-operative and gave me the opportunity to engage constructively with the board and management team to deliver great outcomes for WA growers," Mr Seaby said.
"It provided me with a solid platform to continue to fulfil my desire to influence positive change on the WA grains industry through my new role on the CBH board.
"I highly recommend anyone with a deep passion and interest in CBH and your community to get involved on the Growers' Advisory Council."
Following a review of the GAC Charter last year, a councillor's term is a single period of four years.
There is a minimum number of councillors required from each of CBH's five districts.
Councillors are expected to attend meetings four times a year in Perth, with reasonable accommodation and travel expenses paid for.
Those interested in joining the GAC will need to address the selection criteria and provide five referees by Friday, April 12, 2019.
Successful candidates are selected by a panel comprising of directors and representatives from the GAC and CBH group management by an interview process.
