WALFA held their annual general meeting in York on Friday morning, prior to the trip out to Dowerin, where a new president was elected.
After serving in the president's role since 2012, Trevor Hinck, Kerrigan Valley Feedlot, Hyden, stepped down to make way for a new face to take the association forward.
Todd Fotheringhame, Pederah Creek Feedlot, Karlgarin, might be brand new to the presidency after his election on Friday, but he is a well-known figure in the WA lotfeeding industry and long time member of WALFA.
Outgoing president Trevor Hinck, who will retain his role on the committee at WALFA and at the national body ALFA, said it had been a good experience serving in the top job at WALFA for so many years.
"In my time the industry has changed substantially and now we're dealing with larger, more professional yards which can accommodate the full range of markets from supermarkets to live export to higher numbers of custom feeding jobs," Mr Hinck said.
Mr Fotheringhame agreed, saying as the industry continued to move forward WALFA, together with some new team members who have come onboard, hoped to move forward as well - continuing to build membership and whole-of-supply chain engagement.
"Focusing on building engagement between the entire supply chain is something we really believe in," Mr Fotheringhame said.
"We were pleasantly surprised with the number of attendees at this year's event and we've also had a lot of positive feedback on the program so we'll hope to continue building on that."
