Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 4211 cattle at their store sale on Friday, consisting of 2682 steers, 1363 heifers and 11 cows and calves.
Despite the big numbers, the competition was solid from lotfeeders, fatteners and backgrounders.
Steers were up 10 to 15 cents due to a bigger percentage of crossbred cattle and heifers eased by 15 to 20c on last week's rates.
Store cattle represented a broad cross-section of northern cattle with lots coming from Mt Isa, Julia Creek, Richmond, Hughenden, Normanton, Georgetown, Atherton Tableland, local and coastal areas.
