Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2568 cattle, consisting of 1551 prime cattle and 1017 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 433 bullocks, 310 heifers, 482 cows and 326 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 697 steers, 272 heifers, 48 cows and calves.
Cattle consisted of a mixed yarding of fat cattle, along with good lines of feeder steers and heifers.
The yarding was drawn from Burketown, Normanton, Georgetown, Mt Garnet, as well as local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were quoted 10c dearer, heifers remained strong with no change, cows were 10c dearer and bulls 20c easier on last week's rates.

Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 348c and averaged 319c, and those over 500kg topped at 343c to average 333c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 324c and averaged 284c, while heifers over 440kg topped at 326c, averaging 319c. Cows under 400kg made 268c and averaged 213c, while cows over 400kg reached 294c, averaging 271c. Bulls under 450kg made 340c and averaged 295c, while bulls over 450kg reached 340c to average 266c.
Bullocks topped at 343c for 18 ox sold on a/c Sandra Johnson, that weighed 546kg to return $1872/hd. A good line of 185 heavy feeder steers sold on a/c Pedracini Grazing averaged 337c for 381kg to return $1289/hd.
A pen of trade heifers was presented on a/c JC Bethel Pty Ltd, that sold for 326c, weighing 545kg to return $1777/hd The top pen of cows was sold by JC Bethel Pty Ltd for 294c, weighing 630kg to return $1853/hd.
Bulls sold on a/c GT and SDT Garland topped at 340c and weighed 680, to return $2312/hd.

Store cattle were presented in smaller lines than previous weeks, however they sold to dearer rates.
Steers under 200kg reached 412c to average 381c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 364c, averaging 343c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 360c and averaged 312c and steers over 400kg sold to 338c to average 327c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 320c and averaged 289c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 338c, averaging 291c, and heifers 320 - 370kg made 324c to average 281c.
A pen of 23 steers a/c GJ and K Hoolihan made 412c and weighed 164kg, returning an average of $675/hd. A good pen of eight heifers a/c W Adams made 338c, weighed 216kg and returned an average of $730/hd. Six cows and calves sold on a/c JC Caird returned $1720/unit.
