Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 1662 head at Tuesday's prime and special store cattle sale, an increase of 199 head on the previous week.
Two local processors were present along with three traders and a large gallery of local buyers. Prices were strong for good quality cattle with a new saleyards record for meatworks bulls.
The yarding consisted of 414 steers averaging 342.3c/kg selling to a top of 376.2c, 566 bulls averaging 294.6c selling to a top of 392.2c (new saleyards record for meatworks bulls at 364.2c), 251 cows averaging 241.8c selling to a top of 328.2c, 231 heifers averaging 318.9c selling to a top of 386.2c, 132 yearling heifers averaging 348c selling to a top of 402.2c and 45 yearling steers averaging 360.2c selling to a top of 420.2c.
