Dry seasonal conditions in the Lakes area, where many shires have been declared water deficient, has forced sheep producers to consider reducing stock numbers, some entirely. Many of these sheep have been sold to the Eastern States as buyers have been paying top dollar for them.

SHEEP transfer figures to the Eastern States are entering new territory after the record 1.5 million head mark was reached at the end of October, with the monthly figure the second highest number of sheep transferred since October 2010.
