A male patient with head injuries was one of three people treated by RACQ Capricorn Rescue and the Queensland Ambulance Service on Sunday evening following a quad bike accident in the Byfields National Park north of Rockhampton.
According to emergency services, the three people, two men and one female, were travelling together along the heavily vegetated Yaxley Road in a forestry area when at around 10.50pm they hit a tree lying across the road that was hidden by grass.
RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked by Queensland Health to attend to the three people, who had been thrown clear of the bike.
One man in his 30s was suffering head and upper body injuries that required intubation on scene by the on-board doctor and critical care paramedic.
He was airlifted in a serious condition to the Rockhampton Hospital for further scans.
The remaining patients, one man and a woman in their 20s suffered suspected broken ribs cuts and abrasions and were transported by road with QAS through to Rockhampton for further assessment.
