Imagine placing a yard on your property via Google maps and viewing it in 3D on your computer or via the widely available Oculus Quest glasses. You don't need to imagine any longer as Metalcorp has announced the launch of the Virtual Yard Experience.
The Virtual Yard Experience will give customers the ability to pick a yard design and visualise it on their own property from a range of devices anywhere in Australia. This is taking what was previously a hand drawn yard design and converting this into a 3D virtual experience. This can be done via an internet enabled desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet. For the ultimate Virtual Yard Experience the customer is also able to view their design on Oculus Quest VR at one of their selected branches.
Metalcorp national marketing and innovation manager Lester Kirkwood said the Virtual Yard Experience offered an enhanced user experience while saving time.
"We're all time poor and this Virtual Yard Experience enables you to bring the physical world into the digital domain, to a certain extent eliminating the need to travel long distances to view equipment. And by visualising the yard on your own property, you are taking out some of the uncertainty of how it will all fit into the designated space," Mr Kirkwood said.
With the fourth industrial revolution in full swing, more and more farming related activities around the world are becoming internet enabled. Metalcorp was the first to launch an eCommerce website along with a modular app for its sales team to quickly design farmyards and now the Virtual Yard Experience.
"Our goal is to continually improve our customer experiences through digital innovation and bring our rural communities to the forefront of adapting to a connected digital world. Watch this space for more in the very near future."
Metalcorp is an institution in the Australian bush, dating back to the company's original incarnation from Ashley and Moore in 1967. It provides Australian-made steel from Orrcon Steel. Metalcorp produces a range of rural products designed to withstand harsh environments from coastal locations to inland farms. There has been mergers and rebranding of the business since then with Ashley and Moore and MI Steel combining to form MI Steel in NSW and Qld. Metalcorp was formed from these businesses and then bought by the Smorgon Group in 2001 to become part of the BlueScope group.
Mr Kirkwood said Metalcorp's commitment was to supply competitively priced products, to operate in a safe environment and to deliver outstanding customer service through innovation.
"This has enabled Metalcorp to become a leading metals distribution business."
Metalcorp operates across Australia with branches and stockists in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
Metalcorp staff are proud of their Australian heritage.
"What this means is that every dollar you spend at Metalcorp goes back into our communities, retaining local employment and supporting local communities. Investing back into these communities ensures that we can continue to create and manufacture our products here, supporting these towns with local supply. Metalcorp has an important role to play in the Australian rural sector - and we take that responsibility very seriously."
