WITH only eight swimmers competing in the Country Pennants Swim Meet held in York during the long weekend in March, the Wundowie Swimming Club team entered into as many of the events as possible and all came home with glory and a chest full of medals
Ashley Burton, who entered as an adult, won three gold and three silver medals.
Courtney Jupp, Reefe Hislop and Tristian Seagrim were competing for the first time in these pennants, and swam very well with all achieving medals.
Alyson and Taylor McMahon and Jake Seagrim each brought home a medal and were all competing individually as well as being in two relays each.
Brooke Jupp came home with a chest full of medals too.
As the team did not have a permanent swimming coach, all thanks goes to Aaron Seagrim who joined the club half-way through the season to help mentor and coach the team and these remarkable results show in what the team achieved with his help.
The parents and Wundowie residents are very proud of these champion swimmers who are well known in the area the boys are members of the No Name Gang and have helped many in the community.
All these swimmers live in Wundowie and train out of the Wundowie Swimming Pool and attend local schools.
Ashley Burton has now finished school and is at present looking for a mechanical apprenticeship.
Dennis Seagrim, president of the swimming club, has a great influence on all the fine swimmers and Julie Mackenzie makes sure there is always a barbecue on the go for the team and for fundraising, so the team are very fortunate with all these dedicated people helping them.
