ADVENTURE and fantasy are afoot at the children's space within the Northam Library.
Over the coming months, parents and children alike will notice changes taking place starting with a painting specifically commissioned for the children's area by an anonymous benefactor.
Alongside this, local artist Karen Howell who is studying for her Certificate II in Visual Arts at CY O'Connor Institute, is working on a piece which will engender all that is magical in the world of children's literature.
To give families an idea of what they can expect to see in the future Ms Howell has lent one of her pieces which went on display in the library on Monday for families to enjoy.
Over the coming months the children's space will undergo a gradual transformation which will see the inclusion of a safety gate to the entrance, enabling mothers to ensure their children are safely with them while they help older children pick out books or enjoy story and rhyme-time each Wednesday.
The children's library space will also see the addition of new soft furnishings and a frieze, also to be produced by Ms Howell, slowly gracing the walls in the months to come.
Northam Library recently installed a radio Frequency Data Identification System, while new additions to library stock arrived just in time for the school holidays.
