THE Northam Town Hall will host a special concert and commemorative service by the multi-award winning Perth Hills and Wheatbelt Band this Sunday at 2pm entitled Northam Answers the Call.
Admission is free.
The event is part of the Shire of Northam's Anzac Centenary program.
The band will present a concert of music associated with both world wars as a tribute to the more than 600 people from the Northam area who served in both world wars.
At the end of the performance there will be a short dedication service in which members of the audience can lay a commemorative wreath in honour of a fallen relative or colleague.
The concert will include some accounts of servicemen who came from the area.
The Northam branch of Sing Australia will perform with the band in Songs of the Trenches.
The audience will also be invited to sing along with the medley of world war hits.
In July next year the band is embarking on a five-week tour of the battlefields of Europe where Australians fought and died in World War I and World War II.
It follows successful tours to China in 2010, and Hawaii (including Pearl Harbour) in 2012 as well as two tours to Sydney with performances in the Opera House in 2008 and last year.
If you would like to lay a wreath as part of the service, let the band know beforehand by emailing your intention to philrob51 @gmail.com.
