SERGEANT Madden said Northam Police are walking through shops as part of an ongoing operation.
The operation's goal is to have a higher police presence.
"We encourage shop owners to wave at officers and also have a talk to them about any issues," he said.
Sgt Madden said there was a burglary in Northam on June 22, with the offender since taking off to Perth.
"They haven't come back," he said.
"Since he left we have only had one burglary in a seven day period."
Sgt Madden said he put it down to police targeting prolific offenders.
Coming up to school holidays, Sgt Madden put the word out for parents to know where their kids are.
He said parents would be contacted to pick up their kids from the police station following an incident.
"We usually see petty crimes go up during the school holidays, so we will have to get onto that area quickly."
A booze bus was in Northam last week before moving onto Cunderdin.
Sgt Madden said there was an incident at the Cunderdin booze bus location which saw an individual apprehended.
A vehicle pulled in to stop, took off and was pursued towards Tammin.
"The offender's motor vehicle failed and he was apprehended," he said.
"He is wanted for questioning in regards to robberies in Perth."
The individual has his pregnant girlfriend and child in the vehicle during the incident.
