WAFarmers welcomed the recommendation contained in the final report of the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport’s ‘Inquiry into Australia’s biosecurity and quarantine arrangements’ that: “The committee recommends that the Government give higher priority to funding and implementation of the Beale Review reforms."
This recommendation supports comments in WAFarmers submission, where WAFarmers noted that “the Federal Government continues to significantly under-invest in financing the outcomes of the Beale Review.”
Disappointingly the Government Senators on the committee disagreed with the recommendation.
This will no doubt lead to a continuation of the current state of play where, whilst the Government agreed with the 84 recommendations of the "Beale Review," it is yet to allocate funding to their delivery.
