RATHER than get the tractor out of the shed for a lap around his canola paddock, Jerdacuttup farmer Simon Williams opted for his jet ski.
Mr Williams and wife Karla have had 462 millimetres of rain so far this year on their 4000 hectare farm, 150 kilometres west of Esperance.
He said all his crops had been effected by temporary waterlogging with lakes forming across the property - the one pictured measured 0.8 metre at its deepest point.
To combat the problem he put in drainage but took time out to make the most of a bad situation with a ride on the jet ski.
The local wildlife had also been taking advantage, with 22 black swans and other water birds enjoying a paddle last week.
"Our soil profile remained wet over summer following a wet season last year as well," he said.
