CHRISTMAS arrived early for Koojan farmer Jaden Cocking after his noodle wheat crop averaged 4.3 tonnes to the hectare this season.
Jaden, who is pictured with Justin Wiley, Dion Brooking and Michael Smith, farms with wife Bree and parents Owen and Pam.
They cropped 4540 hectares this year, with 1200ha of hay, 1800ha of wheat, 1500ha of canola and 40ha of lupins.
The Cockings' new Case IH 8240 header, purchased this year from Cunninghams in Moora, proved to be a worthwhile investment and took off the Calingiri wheat crop that peaked at 8t/ha.
"The header is going well - the capacity is up and the cleanliness of the sample has improved on the other one," said header driver Michael Smith.
The team had just finished baling 3800 bales of wheat straw, that averaged 7t/ha for cattle feed, when Farm Weekly visited last week.
Oats were also impressive, averaging 9.1t/ha.
Despite above average yields in the wheat and oats, canola yields were not as high as hoped.
"Canola averaged 1.9t/h which was a bit disappointing," Michael said.
"It fell over - anywhere where it fell, it was only doing 1.5t/ha."
"Oils were about middle of the road," Jaden said.
He hopes to finish harvest within the next week so he and his eight staff can enjoy a relaxed Christmas.
"We have a really good team, which makes all the difference," Jaden said.
