CBH is offering feed-strapped farmers the opportunity to access warehoused grain as feed stocks grow tighter due to the dry conditions.
CBH chief executive Andy Crane said the co-operative was allowing growers the option to release warehoused grain or purchase grain directly from CBH.
“While we are hopeful of an improvement, many of our growers are already affected and we are offering some of those options to growers who need support from their co-operative,” Dr Crain said.
Growers can access their stocks of oats, lupins or barley from selected CBH sites or purchase grain through CBH for sheep feed.
Northern farmers can access grain from the Geraldton port site, while in the Kwinana zone limited grain is available at Watheroo, Merredin, Avon, Calingiri and Narrakine.
In the Albany zone, grain is available from Lake Grace, Wagin and Albany port sites.
A subsidised outturn fee of $7.50 per tonne and freight adjustments will apply.
Dr Crane urged farmers to contact CBH if they were concerned about not fulfilling contract obligations.
“It may be possible to transfer contracts to other growers, or explore options for a contract washout if production failure is imminent,” he said.
“We are focused on working on the best solution for each grower and encourage any growers with questions to contact their business relationship manager or the Grower Service Centre.”
