The Avon Descent is just one month away and the wheels are in motion by the community, the Northam Shire and organisers to make it the best one yet.
The Shire of Northam will be hosting the Avon River Festival from 4pm on Friday, August 4, 2017. The festival launches the start of the Avon Descent with attractions and activities for all age groups.
There will be live performances from local musicians, a street parade, rides and a fireworks finale.
A side show alley will entertain the young at heart with a host of showbags and games. There will also be market stalls and food vendors offering local produce, arts and crafts.
Shire President Steven Pollard said the Avon River Festival is a highlight on the calendar. “The Festival brings together locals and visitors, showcasing the vibrancy of our region,” he said.
The festival will open on Minson Avenue at 4pm and the street parade will kick off at 6pm on Fitzgerald Street.
The firework finale will commence at 8.30pm.
Minson Avenue will be closed from 1pm until completion of the event, and Fitzgerald Street will be closed for the street parade only.
The event is pet and alcohol free.
