The Balladong Cricket Academy has been nominated for a Cricket Australia national award.
The program is up for the Community Cricket Initiative of the Year award as part of the Cricket Australia Sport For All Cricket Awards.
The Balladong Cricket Academy is one of two finalists.
Jermaine and Junior Davis will travel to Melbourne this weekend to attend the event.
The Community Cricket Initiative of the Year award looks at community based programsthat have found clever ways to engage underrepresented community groups in cricket.
Brad Denham from the West Australian Cricket Association put the nomination together for the Academy.
Formerly known as the Avonwest Cricket Academy, the new name reflects plans to have the program delivered in other towns within the Balladong region, which incorporates much of the Wheatbelt area.
The Academy is not affiliated with a school, instead relying on the children's willingness to participate and want to join in.
