Audiences at the Link Theatre will enjoy a new experience following the installation of a new lighting and sound system at the venue in September.
The behind the scenes makeover is thanks to a number of community grants including $3,000 from a Bendigo Bank community sponsorship, $35,000 from the Gaming Community Trust, $15,000 from Lotterywest and $200 from Bankwest.
The new setup will allow actors and musicians to be microphoned up while on stage.
Northam Theatre Group grant writer Jodi Ingram said the lighting and sound upgrade will provide a professional venue for people with a passion for the arts to share their talent.
“The upgrade will mean we can cater for anything,” Ms Ingram said.
“We are trying to make a lovely environment so we can encourage visiting artists like comedians and bands to use the theatre.”
Ms Ingram said it took a year to write up all the grant applications but said it was a blessing for the theatre to receive the money for the project.
Theatre group member Daniel Byfield will work alongside Perth based company 3 Monkeys Audiovisual Specialists to plan the works.
The instalation will take place in September and take a week.
The Link Theatre have contributed an additional $10,000 towards the upgrades.
