New Flexi-Coil air cart debuts in WA

During a recent farm demonstration between Dowerin and Wyalkatchem, Boekeman Machinery Wongan Hills salesman Ben Boekeman said the new 20,440 litre-capacity 5860 air cart impressed farmers with its ease of use and new in-cab monitor interface, as well as the quick-fill conveyor.

"These air carts have been designed from the ground up and will replace the company's 40 and 50 series," Ben said.

The Flexi-Coil 60 series comprise seven air carts, with capacities ranging from 12,234 litres to 33,477L.

The company claims it has set a new standard for accurate, reliable air seeding with a number of patent-pending features.

"The variable rate application and section control is simple," Ben said.

"And because seed and fertiliser delivery is more accurate it eliminates double applications of seed and fertiliser and less damage is caused to the seed.

"The bottom line is better seed germination."

Among the innovative features is the FlexRate sectional control, which allows individual control of up to 10 sections of the implement.

Each metering system is operated by an independent and patented, 24-volt electric drive motor with integrated controls.

Fertiliser and seed can be applied in single-shoot or double-shoot applications.

"The FlexRate system is easy to use and you can use pre-loaded prescription maps using the task controller and a GPS input," Ben said.

The 5860 air cart is 5.62m (18.5ft) wide and has four tanks, including an 881L small seeds tank.

It comes with standard bin level and tank pressure sensors with alarms, and four in-tank and rear-view cameras.

A fast-fill conveyor with remote control and a pneumatic fill system for the small seed tank ensure quick, efficient filling.

"The remote-controlled conveyor works extremely well, is user-friendly and makes filling quick and easy," Ben said.

The 5860 is available in tow-between or tow-behind configurations.

The quad wheel configuration with front steerable axle is standard on the 5860 tow-behind model.
