The countdown is on for local homes and businesses as services over the NBN network are scheduled to replace 3,500 existing landline phone and internet services in parts of Northam.
Those that are yet to switch are encouraged to contact their preferred phone and internet service provider to place an order as soon as possible to continue using their landline phone and internet services.
NBN local manager for WA Jane McNamara said the changeover is not automatic.
“While many homes and businesses in Northam have already signed up to a service over the NBN access network, it’s important for those who have not yet connected to know that making the switch is not automatic,” she said.
“If you have any special equipment that operates on your current landline, it’s important you talk with your phone and internet service provider to get the right support when moving across.
“This is probably the first time consumers in Northam have selected a plan based on speed so it is important they understand what impacts speed so they can get more out of their NBN access network experience.”
Ms McNamara said the rollout is one of the biggest transformations to happen to Australia’s telecommunications industry.
“We’re excited to see up to 40,000 homes and businesses making the switch around Australia every week, and we’re working hard with the industry to help make sure everyone’s experience is a positive one,” she said.
