The March excursion for the Northam PROBUS Club commenced with morning tea at the Rivers Edge Café in Northam followed by a tour of the Bilya Koort Boodja (BKB) Centre for Nyoongar Culture.
Eleven members of our club who participated were warmly welcomed to the BKB Centre by its local co-ordinator who gave a very informative talk about Nyoongar history in the Ballardong area and answered all our questions.
Everyone was encouraged to browse through the centre and discover for themselves specific areas they wanted to know more about.
The exhibition with its interpretive display, videos, photos, art and souvenirs was extremely interesting.
The Ccentre is gradually adding to its current displays.
To those who haven't managed to tour the centre it is well worth a visit..
In April our Club plans to join Toodyay PROBUS and travel to the Yanchep National Park for a BBQ lunch and meet members of the Yanchep Two Rocks PROBUS Club.
The PROBUS Club is all about encouraging retirees to foster fun, fellowship and friendship.
New members are always welcome.
