A York local has done something many rev-heads can only dream of - drive at Bathurst.
But in the case of Steve Pittman, he has driven there twice - and won.
"I started racing carts when I was 14 and over the many years of racing I have raced anything from carts, Gemini series, sport sedans, saloon cars and just recently we moved into the Australian production car series," he said.
As part of the series, Pittman and fellow driver Michael Hopp shared the wheel for six hours, coming out with a win in their Suzuki Swift.
"Last year we did the six-hour production race at Bathurst and Phillip Island," Pittman said.
"This year we did the six-hour production race at Bathurst again where we managed to win our class.
"It was really amazing.
"It is exciting times for the rest of the year and next year."
Bathurst is without a doubt Pittman's favourite place to drive.
"Every time you go there you learn something new," he said.
"You have to concentrate the whole track.
"I was always hopeful that we would have got podium.
"If we had our strategy right we always had a chance of coming first.
"I wasn't expecting it but it was expected within the team."
Riding on the back of their success, Pittman, Hopp and Dee Pittman-White have become owners of a Holden Commodore HSV VE GTS - an A class vehicle that they hope to drive at all six tracks in the production car series.
"We have our fingers crossed that we will be heading over to Adelaide in November to compete in the final round of the championships," Pittman said.
"We have big plans to kick off in the 2020 series."
The Easter long weekend win also inspired the creation of Spartan 1 Motorsport, run by the trio and supported by their team of 16 crew from around the country.
Spartan 1 Motorsport are looking for sponsors to support their endevours, with locals about to get their name printed on the new Commodore.
