PATIENCE paid off for third-time supreme champion female Miss Impatience and exhibitor Brooke Weir, TBW Santa Gertrudis, Ammaroo Station, Alice Springs, NT, at the Alice Springs Show on Friday.

The cow, with a bull calf at-foot, won the NT-bred female section, before going on the claim the supreme ribbon.

Judge Rebecca Skene, Cecil Plains, Qld, said the cow emerged from a "tricky" class.

"It's a mix of breeds, some with calves and some without," she said.

She praised the Santa Gertrudis cow for its topline and width from hip to pin.

"It's an overall complete heifer with a great udder and it's doing a terrific job on the calf at-foot," she said.

"The whole aim of game is for cows that are doing a terrific job on their calf."

The cow came from the 30-cow herd of 17-year-old Brooke Weir.

"It was a quiet weaner in the yards and I decided I liked it," she said. "It would eat hay out of my hand."

Brooke broke the heifer in and began showing it.

This was the sixth time Brooke had exhibited the supreme female in a row, and the third with Miss Impatient.

"It's won supreme champion female every time it's been to show," she said.

Brooke said she would grow out the bull calf and potentially return to the show with it in the future.

Winner of the interstate female was Will Turner, Undoolya Station, Alice Springs, with a heifer donated by southern breeders.
