The Northam RSL Sub Branch, in partnership with the WA RAAF Association, will be again holding an annual commemoration service at Mokine to remember the lives of four airmen who lost their lives.
During an exercise out of RAAF Pearce 72 years ago the aircraft, W2262, was granted permission to make a zero visability zero ceiling maneuver.
It was during this steep turn the aircraft developed a descending sideslip and the four aircrew were thrown out and died instantly.
The aircraft came to rest against a rock outcrop on Avro Anson Road, which has now become the site of a dedicated memorial.
Each year a service is held around the date of the crash.
This year the service will be held on October 6 at 11am on Avro Anson Road in Mokine.
The Northam RSL Sub Branch has extended the invitation to the public who are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
