Local karate champion, Kristina Perrin has just had her next career goal realised after being appointed as an assistant coach for the Western Australian State Team for the next three years.
Her personal coach, Mic Gunn, has been a senior coach of the State Team for the past six years and has recently been appointed head coach of the State fighting team for the Australian Karate Federation, WA.
At 24 years of age and entering into her last year of competition, Perrin is set to retire after the National Championships in July.
She now lives and runs a club in Goomalling but still trains and helps teach at the Northam Karate Club on a weekly basis.
This latest stage in Perrin's career caps off a extremely successful number years of competing in karate, having won the Open Woman's State Title seven years in a row.
She was also the State Team captain in 2018 and 2019, has been an Australian Team member, an eight-time National Champion in under 21 years and senior divisions and brought home gold for Australia three times.
In the past six years since Perrin won her first National Title, she has won the following trophies, competing in her weight division and open divisions:

- 2 x Silver Oceania
- 1 x Bronze Oceania
- 4 x Gold Australia Open
- 4 x Silver Australia Open
- 5 x Bronze Australia Open
- 8 x Gold National Championships
- 2 x Silver National Championships
- 9 x Bronze National Championships.
Perrin will join the head coach, four senior coaches and one other assistant coach when she takes up her new role training the WA State team next year.
